Superstars of Pro Wrestling - The Game

I was without a doubt the greatest wrestling game ever made.  In fact all the gaming mechanics in any other wrestling game are based on the gaming mechanics of this game. That includes video games. It is a brilliant game.
Below is the original box cover for the game. You could at one time get it from the back of wrestling magazines for about twelve dollars. A friend of mine was intrigued and ordered it. When it arrived it came with the rules a few "Specialty" matches like the "Lumberjack Match" and about twenty wrestlers. plane sheets of paper with stats on them that reflected the wrestlers moves int he ring. And it came with "Manager Cards". Just as in wrestling these guys could affect the outcome of the match easily.

My friends and I quickly divvied up the wrestlers like an NFL draft leaving some in the box for future trades. we were each given five wrestlers for our stable and we would compete for the belts.

Yes there were belts, World Championship, Tag Team. etc. each represented by a painted popsicle stick. We kept them int he box so they would not get lost and popsicle sticks were handy. Every time after wrestling went off the air on the TBS Superstation we gathered around the kitchen table and started out evening of matches.  Ten matches for the night, titles had to be defended monthly or forfeited and people kept track of that religiously because if you had a champion you got first pic in the draft every two months.
The mayhem got so out of control people were talking trash to each other at the grocery store. Imagine your in the cereal isle and two people start yelling at each other about how you tag team was going to crush the other guys, fingers pointing, people in each other faces. bets being made right there by Captain Crunch. It got that bad.

Like I said it's a great game. Several years ago after my friend left collage and took his game with him the internet came about and I got curious. I started looking for the game again. I found a few sites where people had uploaded the rules or one or two of the wrestlers then I came across a message board and that had most everything from the game. I downloaded it and asked the guy who uploaded it if he had more like the specialty matches and he very generously sent them to me and so much more. The guy was from Mexico and had been playing the game for years with his friends. They had even gone so far as to create a template for more wrestlers and had made many more wrestlers. I think the count is at 500. He sent everything he had up to that point to me.

I will warn you not everything is spelled correctly I attribute it to the language difference but you will get the idea. And you can correct it yourself if you want, I'll throw in their template.

But for now the rules, tournaments and rankings.
